About

The University of Birmingham Motor Racing Club (UBMRC) was set up by Andy Robinson to fill a gaping hole in the University societies list. Since then, the club has established itself as one of the most entertaining (and fastest) clubs that the University of Birmingham has to offer.

We aim to make motor racing as enjoyable and affordable as we possibly can, through a range of activities ranging from intraclub social racing to high-level nationwide karting championships. There are also plenty of social events, so you’ll find plenty of fellow motorsport enthusiasts to befriend. You can take a look at upcoming races and social events here!

Our main focus is the British Universities Karting Championship, a privately run nationwide karting championship which sees teams from universities all around the country competing against each other in the most powerful fleet of arrive-and-drive karts in the world – a set of 2-stroke 125cc Club 100 karts capable of a 70mph top speed.

We cater to all skill and experience levels, ranging from the seasoned racer to the absolute beginner, with our travels taking us to some of the best tracks in the UK.
